With over 90 years of experience and a rich history, Turkish athletics exploded in the 2000s. Athletes like Esref Apak (won Olympic silver in the 2004 hammer throw), Elvan Abeylegesse (a long distance runner, European leader in 2010, at 5,000 m 10,000 m) or Karin Melis Mey (world champion in the long jump), have carried Turkey’s fame all over the world.
Dozens of medals are added in Turkey’s portfolio for all age groups in European and World competitions.
At the previous edition of the European Team Championships, Turkey competed in First League. This time, in Cluj Napoca, along with other important names in athletics, it is announced the presence of 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗶𝘆𝗲𝘃, world champion at 200 m, in 2017!
